Nordic Light Project

Inspiration into the field of Nordic light art

The Nordic Light project not only pushes the boundaries of Nordic light art, but provides a showcase and a chance for it to be experienced. By promoting international cooperation between lighting artists as well as mobility, the project seeks to inject new knowledge, ways of working and inspiration into the field of Nordic light art. The objective is to support opportunities for Nordic lighting artists to develop an international profile and boost international interest in Nordic light art as a whole. The Nordic Light project is funded by the Nordic Culture Fund.

The aim: engaging with others working in the field internationally

In order to achieve the project’s goals networking and exhibition events in light art are being arranged in three European cities. At these gatherings Nordic lighting artists will have the opportunity to exhibit their works and engage with others working in the field internationally. The target group at these events includes in particular decision-makers at municipal level, the organisers of lighting events and other players in the lighting branch.

The events comprise a portfolio seminar and networking sessions. The portfolio seminars showcase works by Nordic lighting artists that have been selected by an international group of experts. At any one event some 15-20 artists will present their portfolios.

In order to achieve synergy benefits the events making up the Nordic Light project will be arranged within the scope of the Light in the City project coordinated by the City of Jyväskylä in connection with upcoming lighting branch conferences.
