Festival Side Program

Apply to be part of the side program at the City of Light Festival 2026

Apply to be part of the side program at the City of Light Festival, taking place from September 25 to October 3, 2026!

We are looking for organizers of light-themed side events for Jyväskylä’s largest family-friendly urban cultural event. Side program content must relate to the theme of light and may include, for example, a public event, workshop, exhibition, performance, or a small-scale light artwork.

Application form

The application period is open until May 15, 2026.

We will contact all applicants by June 13, 2026.

 

Responsibilities of the side program organizer

If you wish to produce a side event as part of the City of Light Festival, you agree to:

  • Take responsibility for all costs and arrangements related to your program.
  • Submit final program information and images to be used in marketing by August 11, 2026.
  • Follow the provided guidelines and inform us well in advance of any changes affecting the side program.
  • Obtain any required permits from authorities and/or permission from the landowner for the use of the event area.
  • Arrange the electricity supply and lighting for your own program.
  • Be responsible for the safety, security, traffic arrangements, audience management, and waste management of your side event.
     

City of Light support

The City of Light team can assist with the following:

  • We can provide guidance on practical implementation matters where needed, including how to deliver the light theme in a high-quality and safe way.
  • We can coordinate events and cooperation between different organizers when necessary.
    Side program events will be included in City of Light Festival communications.
  • If you create a Facebook event page, City of Light may be listed as a co-host. We will share content through City of Light social media channels whenever possible.
  • If you need support with special lighting solutions, we can help connect you with a lighting designer or light artist and may assist in finding rental equipment.
  • However, as a rule, we do not commit to guaranteeing implementation or covering costs.
